The ITW BUILDEX 560037 is a No. 12 self-drilling screw designed for fast, reliable fastening in steel and light structural applications. Featuring a hex washer head with hex drive, this screw measures 2 inches in length under head and uses a No. 3 drill point, which eliminates the need for a pilot hole in compatible base materials. The thread size is No. 12-14, meaning 14 threads per inch. Each package contains 100 screws. At a combined package weight of 2.6 pounds, this is a practical bulk quantity for service vans and job-site kits.
These self-drilling screws are suited for metal-to-metal and metal-to-substrate fastening tasks common in HVAC ductwork assembly, light steel framing, electrical enclosure installation, and general sheet metal work. The No. 3 drill point handles moderate-gauge steel without pre-drilling. The hex washer head provides a positive clamping surface and is driven with a standard 5/16-inch hex driver bit, making installation fast with a cordless drill or impact driver.
Designed as an OEM-style self-drilling fastener for sheet metal, light steel framing, and metal enclosure assembly applications where a No. 12-14 thread and No. 3 drill point are specified.
Install using a cordless drill or impact driver fitted with a 5/16-inch hex driver bit. Power down and de-energize any electrical panels or enclosures before fastening near energized components. Do not overdrive hex washer head screws, as stripping the head or distorting the base material reduces clamping load. Follow applicable codes such as the NEC or SMACNA standards for fastener spacing in ductwork or panel assemblies.
