The ITW BUILDEX 560036 is a No. 12 self drilling screw designed for fast, reliable fastening without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It features a hex washer head with a hex drive and a No. 2 drill point that cuts through steel and similar substrates in a single step. The thread size is No. 12-14, with 14 threads per inch, and the length under the head measures 1-1/2 inches. Each package contains 250 screws. This fastener is installed by electricians, HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and general trade contractors in light-gauge metal framing and equipment enclosure applications.
This screw is suited for attaching sheet metal panels, ductwork components, electrical enclosures, metal studs, and similar light-gauge steel assemblies. The self drilling tip eliminates a separate drilling step, reducing installation time on production or repetitive fastening tasks. The hex washer head provides a bearing surface that resists pull-through, and the hex drive accepts standard hex driver bits used on most power tools in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use self drilling screw for light-gauge steel fastening applications common in HVAC ductwork, electrical enclosures, and metal framing assemblies.
Install with a hex driver bit and variable-speed power drill or screw gun set to the appropriate torque to avoid stripping the head or overdriving the fastener. Power down any electrical equipment before fastening near live components. Follow applicable NEC or local mechanical codes when securing electrical enclosures or HVAC equipment panels. Do not use on substrates exceeding the rated thickness for a No. 2 drill point.
