The ISCAR 6499864 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the TIGER 1453-152 ISO code and is finished with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.572-inch cutting width, a 0.232-inch cutting height, and an overall length of 0.945 inches. The IC908 grade is a submicron carbide substrate suited for universal application across steel, stainless, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials. Installation is performed by CNC machinists and tool-setting technicians.
This insert is intended for turning and grooving applications on a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. It is a single-end insert with a self-grip holding method and a positive 7-degree rake angle, making it well suited for both light finishing and moderate stock-removal grooving passes. The right-hand orientation determines the required toolholder configuration. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the TIGER 1453-152 insert size. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert hand orientation before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key specified for the Cut-Grip toolholder to achieve proper seating; do not over-torque the clamping screw. Confirm insert hand orientation and overhang setup match the programmed grooving direction before starting the cut.
