The ISCAR 6410659 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation MEFL 8-1.50-0.20 IC908 and features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a fine-grained carbide substrate. The IC908 grade delivers high hardness and wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 1.50 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 5.50 mm, this insert is suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles where dimensional consistency is critical. The left-hand orientation and clamp-and-screw holding method ensure rigid, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert belongs to the ISCAR Min-Cut series and is intended for use on CNC turning and multi-task machines in both production and job-shop environments. The IC908 grade with TiAlN finish supports universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Typical applications include grooving hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast irons, non-ferrous materials, and superalloys. It is used by machinists and CNC programmers working on precision turned components where groove width tolerance and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use with ISCAR Min-Cut series toolholders that accept the MEF8 insert style with clamp-and-screw retention. Verified compatible workpiece material codes: H, K, M, P, and S per ISO designation MEFL 8-1.50-0.20 IC908. Confirm toolholder seat and clamping configuration before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque - do not overtighten or use impact tools on the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
