The ISCAR 6405462 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for use on Swiss-type CNC lathes and screw machines. It carries the manufacturer catalog designation SCIL 22-150R16-00 and is part of the Swisscut series. The insert features a 1.5 mm cutting width, a 16-degree right-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. It is secured to the toolholder by a screw-clamp method. The PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed parting and grooving operations. The insert measures 22.00 mm (0.8661 inches) in overall length and 7.00 mm in cutting height.
This insert is suited for parting and grooving applications on Swiss-type turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and other materials covered under the universal primary workpiece material classification. Material grades C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6 are supported. The single-end geometry and right-hand lead angle make it appropriate for right-hand turning applications where a controlled lead-in angle is required. This insert is sold individually; the minimum order quantity is 5 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Swisscut series screw-clamp toolholders accepting SCIL-style inserts with a size code of 22. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping screw specifications before installation.
Installation of cutoff and grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid stripping the screw or cracking the carbide; refer to the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
