The ISCAR 6405342 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Grade IC806 carbide substrate features an AlTiN PVD coating applied over a submicron-grain carbide body, delivering high hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The insert carries a 3.00 mm cutting width, a 0.20 mm corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 13.00 mm, making it well-suited for demanding groove profiles where dimensional consistency and edge integrity are critical. It is installed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians working in precision machining environments.
This insert is intended for grooving and cutoff operations on superalloy and titanium workpieces, designated under primary workpiece material code S. The positive 7-degree rake angle and chip breaker geometry labeled P promote controlled chip formation and reduced cutting forces in difficult-to-machine materials. Typical applications include external grooving on aerospace components, medical implant stock, and high-performance industrial parts where superalloy and titanium grades are common.
