The ISCAR 6404239 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Cut-Grip series standard, it carries an IC808 grade designation and features a multilayer PVD coating of AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN for extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert has a 1.2 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.0 mm, with a positive 7-degree rake angle that promotes clean chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. It is clamp-held and double-ended, providing two usable cutting edges per insert. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in production environments select this insert for its consistent dimensional accuracy and coating durability.
This insert is suited for grooving, undercutting, and parting applications in both light and medium-duty turning operations. It is compatible with universal workpiece materials, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, which include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. The GIP120000 insert style fits Cut-Grip compatible toolholders designed for that insert size code. It is typically used in high-production CNC turning environments where tight groove tolerances and repeatable tool changes are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting the GIP120000 insert size code. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO groups H, K, M, P, and S.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or door-interlocked state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Never use a damaged or chipped insert edge, as it can compromise part tolerance and toolholder integrity.
