The ISCAR 6403357 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GEPI200010 insert style designation and manufactured to the IC908 grade, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a submicron carbide substrate. The cutting width is 2.01 mm (0.079 inches) with a maximum depth of cut reaching 8.99 mm (0.354 inches). A positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a self-grip insert holding method keep the insert seated securely under interrupted cuts and high-feed passes. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert fits grooving and cut-off toolholders compatible with the GEPI-style self-grip seat geometry within the Cut-Grip series. It is rated for universal workpiece material application, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, making it suitable for carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, hardened materials, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end geometry allows the insert to be flipped for a second cutting edge, extending usable tool life. Typical applications include external grooving, plunge grooving, and shallow profiling where a 2.01 mm slot width is required.

Insert seating and removal should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all power isolated from the machine tool. Use the appropriate ISCAR insert key or extraction tool for the self-grip seat to avoid damaging the insert pocket rails. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, burrs, or carbide debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping and indexing procedure to ensure correct seating depth and edge presentation.
