The ISCAR 6403132 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the designation GIPI239015P in the IC908 grade. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The IC908 grade uses a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a carbide substrate, which provides thermal resistance and edge wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. Key cutting geometry includes a 2.39 mm cutting width, a 6.40 mm maximum depth of cut, and a 0.15 mm corner radius. The insert features a positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a P chip breaker geometry. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert belongs to ISCAR's Cut-Grip series and is configured as a double-ended neutral insert, allowing use in both left-hand and right-hand grooving tool holders compatible with the GIPI insert style. The IC908 grade is rated for universal primary workpiece materials, covering material groups H, K, M, P, and S under ISO 13399 classification. Typical applications include grooving, undercutting, and face grooving on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys in medium to high cutting-speed ranges where PVD-coated carbide grades are appropriate.
Designed for use in Cut-Grip series grooving tool holders and blocks that accept the GIPI insert style with insert size code 239015. Compatible with ISO 13399-compliant tooling systems. Suitable for workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S as defined under ISO 13399.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed away from the work zone before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the tool holder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Verify insert seating in the pocket is flush and secure before resuming cutting operations.
