The ISCAR 6402282 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal diameter machining in precision metalworking applications. With a minimum bore diameter of 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) and a maximum bore depth of 15.00 mm (0.5906 inches), this bar handles tight-tolerance small-bore work where rigidity and accuracy are critical. The 4.00 mm shank diameter and 30.00 mm overall length make it well suited for CNC lathes and machining centers where compact tooling is required. A 0.1000-inch corner radius is built into the cutting geometry. Solid carbide construction provides the stiffness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
This boring bar is intended for small-bore internal turning operations on CNC lathes, turret lathes, and machining centers in both production and jobshop environments. It is well matched to applications requiring high dimensional accuracy in shallow bores, including precision component manufacturing, mold and die work, and close-tolerance repair machining. Right-hand cutting direction means the tool feeds from right to left in standard lathe orientation. The compact geometry is particularly useful when bore entry diameter is a limiting factor.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide boring bar for use in standard 4.00 mm shank tool holders on CNC lathes and machining centers requiring small-bore internal turning capability.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before inserting or removing the boring bar. Verify that the tool holder bore and set-screw arrangement are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Confirm proper overhang and runout with a dial indicator before taking a first cut, as excessive overhang will induce chatter in small-diameter boring operations.
