The ISCAR 6401805 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GIP050000 geometry in the IC54 uncoated grade, this insert delivers a 0.50 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.00 mm. The neutral hand orientation and positive 7-degree rake angle promote controlled chip flow and reduced cutting forces. With an overall length of 15.30 mm, the double-ended design extends tool life by providing two usable cutting edges per insert. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and tool-room operators working in high-precision turning applications.
This insert is suited for grooving and cut-off work on stainless steel and steel workpieces where tight groove width tolerances are required. The IC54 uncoated solid carbide grade is well matched to finishing and light interrupted cuts on these materials. The positive rake geometry helps minimize work hardening on stainless steel, making this insert a practical choice for close-tolerance grooves on shafts, hydraulic components, and medical or aerospace turned parts. The GIP style seats into compatible Cut-Grip toolholders designed for the 050000 insert size code.
Designed for use in Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the GIP 050000 insert size. Compatible primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P). Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure when clamping the insert — do not overtighten by hand estimation alone. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
