The ISCAR 6200414 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying grade IC08 and insert style designation GRIP4002Y, designed for the Heli-Grip toolholding system. The insert is uncoated and manufactured from fine-grained solid carbide, making it well suited for grooving and parting operations in non-ferrous metals. It delivers a 4.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 2.40 mm and features a neutral hand orientation. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life, and the self-grip holding method locks the insert securely into compatible Heli-Grip toolholders without additional clamping hardware. Machinists and CNC toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments will find this insert appropriate for high-precision grooving cycles.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and shallow profiling operations on non-ferrous workpiece materials, including aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. The IC08 uncoated fine-grained carbide grade is optimized for these materials where sharp edges and low cutting forces are required. The Y chip breaker geometry promotes chip control in shallow-to-moderate depth-of-cut applications. The insert is part of the ISCAR Heli-Grip series, which is a self-grip, double-ended insert platform commonly used on Swiss-type lathes, CNC turning centers, and gang-tooled setups requiring compact, repeatable insert seating.
Designed for use with ISCAR Heli-Grip series toolholders that accept the GRIP 4002Y insert size. Compatible insert size code is 4002, and the ISO code is GRIP 4002Y. Intended for non-ferrous workpiece material applications as indicated by primary workpiece material code N.
Insert seating and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all axis motion disabled. The self-grip holding method requires insertion into a compatible Heli-Grip toolholder pocket - do not force the insert or modify the pocket geometry. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR tooling guidelines for feed rates and speeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
