The ISCAR 6200087 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Heli-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying grade IC08 with an uncoated finish, this insert provides a 5.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 mm. It features a double-ended design that extends tool life, and a neutral hand orientation suitable for standard grooving setups. The GRIP5005HG-Y chip breaker geometry is engineered for effective chip control in non-ferrous metal applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments will find this insert a direct-fit replacement for Heli-Grip tooling systems.
This insert is primarily intended for grooving non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper alloys, and similar materials coded N under ISO workpiece material classification. It fits into ISCAR Heli-Grip clamping-style toolholders that accept the GRIP 5005 insert size. Typical applications include external and internal groove turning, undercut operations, and light parting on medium to small diameter workpieces. The double-end configuration allows the insert to be flipped for a second cutting edge before replacement, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-cycle production runs.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heli-Grip clamping-style toolholders that accept GRIP 5005 series inserts. Consult ISCAR toolholder documentation to confirm holder compatibility before ordering.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key to release and reseat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify correct insert orientation and confirm the cutting edge is fully engaged with the pocket before resuming operation.
