The ISCAR 6099336 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GTN-6 insert style with a 6.4 mm (0.2520 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight, square-shoulder cut-off work. The insert is manufactured from carbide grade IC354 with a PVD coating process applied to a C5/C6 material grade substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge stability under interrupted and continuous cutting conditions. A 7-degree relief angle and 0.35 mm corner radius complete the geometry. Installation relies on the Self-Grip clamping method, which seats the insert mechanically without additional screws.
This insert is intended for metalcutting trade applications including production turning, facing, and parting on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The Self-Grip holding method is compatible with ISCAR Self-Grip toolholders and blade-style holders that accept the GTN-6 seat size. It is suited for both job-shop and high-volume production environments where consistent cut-off geometry and repeatable insert indexing are required. Machinists, CNC operators, and tooling specialists working in manufacturing and machining facilities are the primary installers.
Designed for use in ISCAR Self-Grip toolholders and blade holders that accept GTN insert seat size 6. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling specialist and requires the machine spindle to be fully stopped and locked out before any insert change. Confirm the toolholder groove and seat are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the Self-Grip holder's clamping mechanism as designed and do not force the insert with a hammer or pry tool, as this can damage the seat geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's setup instructions and your facility's lockout-tagout procedures before performing any tooling change at the machine.
