The ISCAR 6099306 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert in the Self-Grip series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the GFN3U style designation with a manufacturer grade of IC354, a PVD-coated solid carbide construction, and a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width. The U chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow and evacuation during grooving cuts. A 7-degree relief angle and 0.0079-inch corner radius support clean, accurate groove profiles in demanding materials.
This insert is engineered for grooving and cutoff applications in stainless steel and steel workpieces, covering ISO material codes M and P. It is a single-end insert suited for light to medium-duty turning operations where dimensional accuracy and surface finish in the groove are critical. Typical installations include production turning environments where the Self-Grip toolholder system is already in use. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand designation make it adaptable to standard right-hand Self-Grip toolholders without requiring a mirrored setup.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept GFN-style inserts with a size code 3 seat. Compatible with ISO 13399 compliant tooling data systems.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before clamping to maintain proper seating and cutting geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidance for the specific Self-Grip holder in use.
