The ISCAR 6095929 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for Tang-Grip style toolholders. It carries the TAGN4C geometry with manufacturer grade IC5400, a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert has a 3.99 mm (0.1570 inch) cutting width, a neutral lead angle, a neutral hand orientation, and a 7-degree relief angle. A corner radius of 0.24 mm (0.0094 inch) reduces edge chipping during parting and slotting operations. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a single-end, replaceable cutting edge in production turning centers and lathes.
This insert is intended for cutoff, parting, and slotting applications on turning machines. The IC5400 grade with its CVD multilayer coating is specifically suited for cutting stainless steel and steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. The C-style chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip curl and evacuation during deep grooving and full parting operations. It is a multi-use insert style compatible with Tang-Grip tooling systems and is well suited to both light-production and high-volume CNC turning environments where consistent groove width and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series cutoff and grooving toolholders that accept the TAG insert style with size code 4. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and the toolholder secured in a vise or tool block. Use the appropriate ISCAR torque key or clamping tool specified for the Tang-Grip system to seat the insert fully. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and cutting speed when transitioning to a new insert edge.
