The ISCAR 6011461 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Tang-Grip series, it features a 3.25 mm (0.128 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight parting cuts without lateral cutting force bias. The insert carries the IC830 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN and TiN PVD coating, optimized for wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. A 0.20 mm corner radius and 7-degree relief angle contribute to controlled chip formation and edge integrity during demanding cuts.
This insert is engineered for grooving and parting applications where superalloys and steel are the primary workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. It is suited to production environments running tight tolerances on difficult-to-machine materials, including aerospace and energy-sector components. The JT chipbreaker geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in these applications. The Tang-Grip interface provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible Tang-Grip toolholders, reducing insert movement under interrupted or high-feed cutting conditions. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians.
Designed for use with Tang-Grip series toolholders that accept TAGN3.2 style inserts. Compatible with workpiece materials in ISO categories M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (superalloys).
Installation and insert changes must be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state. Use the appropriate Tang-Grip insert installation tool or torx key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert fully before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for feed rates and depth-of-cut limits when running IC830 grade inserts on superalloy workpieces.
