The ISCAR 6011448 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to IC830 grade with a PVD coating, this single-end insert delivers reliable wear resistance and thermal stability when working superalloys and steel. The cutting width measures 12.7 mm (0.500 inches), with a corner radius of 0.85 mm and a relief angle of 7 degrees. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make it suitable for standard axial parting setups. It belongs to the Tang-Grip series and uses a clamp-style holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is applied in grooving and parting operations across aerospace, energy, and general machining environments where superalloys, steel, and similar materials are processed. The IC830 PVD-coated grade is specifically suited for cutting difficult-to-machine workpiece materials including stainless and high-temperature alloys. It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production turning applications. The W chipbreaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous cuts in demanding material classes.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders and blade systems that accept TAG-style inserts with a 12.7 mm insert size code. Confirm toolholder specifications before installation to ensure correct clamping engagement.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate insert key or wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating or removing the clamp; do not use impact tools. Verify that the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Confirm correct torque and seating per the toolholder manufacturer documentation before resuming cutting operations.
