The ISCAR 6011405 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert in the Tang-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by style code TAGL3J15D and manufactured in grade IC808, this insert features a 3.00 mm cutting width (0.1180 inches), a 15-degree left-hand lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. The IC808 grade uses a PVD coating applied to a submicron carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and edge stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is held by a clamping method and incorporates the J chipbreaker geometry for reliable chip control during parting operations.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff applications on CNC turning equipment in production and job-shop environments. The left-hand orientation and 15-degree lead angle are configured for specific Tang-Grip toolholders requiring this geometry. The IC808 PVD-coated grade is rated for universal application across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, making it a versatile choice where a single insert grade must handle varied material runs. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders configured for TAG-style left-hand inserts with a size code 3 designation. Compatible workpiece material codes per ISO 13399 classification: H, K, M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before changing inserts. The insert seats into the Tang-Grip clamping pocket and is secured by the holder clamp mechanism; confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cutting. Always verify lead angle orientation against the toolholder specification before mounting a left-hand insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
