The ISCAR 6011385 is a double-ended solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert in the Do-Grip series, designated style DGN3002Z with manufacturer grade IC808. It features a 3.00 mm (0.1180 inch) cutting width and is engineered for high-performance parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The PVD-coated IC808 grade is produced from submicron carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. A neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make it suitable for both left- and right-hand setups without repositioning. The insert is held in place by a clamp-style holding method and seats at insert seat size 2.
This insert is designed for grooving and parting applications in production and job-shop turning environments, both light and heavy-duty. The IC808 grade with PVD coating targets universal workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S. Maximum depth of cut reaches 18.00 mm (0.7087 inch), supporting deep grooving passes. The Z chipbreaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during interrupted or continuous cuts.
Designed for use with Do-Grip series clamp-style toolholders accepting insert seat size 2 and the DGN style insert. Suited for grooving and parting applications across CNC lathes and turning centers configured for this insert geometry.
Installation of carbide grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered off and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or damage before each insert change to maintain proper seating and cutting accuracy.
