The ISCAR 6004891 is a Tang-Grip series cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features the TAGN3MF insert style with a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width and an IC808 submicron carbide grade finished with a PVD-applied TiN and TiAlN coating. The neutral lead angle and MF chipbreaker geometry support clean chip formation across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible Tang-Grip toolholders as a single-end, self-gripping insert.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications across universal workpiece material groups, including ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. That coverage spans hardened materials, cast iron, stainless and general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It performs in both high-production and job-shop turning environments where repeatable insert seating and consistent cutting width are required. The MF chipbreaker targets medium-finish cutting conditions, making it a practical choice for light to moderate feeds and depths of cut.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians on powered-off and locked-out turning equipment. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for maximum depth of cut and feed rate for this insert size.
