The ISCAR 6004780 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the PentaCut series, carrying the manufacturer catalog designation PENTA24N200C020 with grade IC908. This insert delivers a 2.00 mm cutting width and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. The IC908 grade features a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiN and TiAlN multilayer coating, giving it wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation make it a versatile choice for straight-in parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this type of insert.
This insert is designed for grooving and parting applications across universal workpiece material groups, including ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S - covering hardened materials, cast irons, stainless steels, steels, and high-temperature alloys. The C chipbreaker geometry suits general-purpose chip control in these applications. The maximum depth of cut is 6.00 mm, making it appropriate for moderate-depth grooving work on shafts, tubes, and bar stock in both light and medium-duty cuts. The multi-use tool designation indicates the insert seat supports reindexing for extended value per insert.

Installation is performed by machining professionals on CNC lathes or turning centers with the machine fully stopped and all motion axes at rest.
