The ISCAR 6004734 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the PENTA D22R200J-6D specification, this insert features a 2 mm cutting width (0.0790 inches) and a 6-degree right-hand lead angle. The IC808 grade combines a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD coating, delivering wear resistance and edge toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. It seats into the PentaIQGrip toolholding system, which provides rigid, repeatable clamping for interrupted cuts and high-feed parting applications.
This insert is suited for production turning environments where consistent parting depth and surface finish are required. The universal primary workpiece material classification covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant superalloys, making it a practical choice for job shops and high-volume machining cells alike. The J chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during cutoff operations, reducing the risk of chip packing in deep-groove applications. Machinists and CNC operators working with the PentaIQGrip system will find this insert a direct fit for standard parting toolblocks in that series.
Designed for use with ISCAR PentaIQGrip series parting and grooving toolholders that accept the PENTA D22R200 insert seat. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S per ISO material classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle stopped and all motion axes at rest. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key specified for PentaIQGrip toolholders to achieve proper seating force without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect insert orientation and cutting performance. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of flank wear, chipping, or surface finish degradation on the workpiece.
