The ISCAR 6004695 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert in the Tang-Grip series, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the TAGN3.2JT designation with IC808 grade carbide and a PVD-applied TiAlN/AlTiN/TiN multilayer coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting width measures 0.128 inches (3.25 mm) with a neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation. A JT chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow in finish and semi-finish grooving. Relief angle is 7 degrees, and the corner radius is 0.008 inches (0.20 mm). This insert is a single-end style and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
This insert is suited for universal workpiece material applications, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Typical uses include OD parting, face grooving, and external grooving on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys in both production and job-shop turning environments. The Tang-Grip clamping system secures the insert mechanically without a top clamp, keeping the chip evacuation zone open. It is appropriate for both dry and wet cutting conditions where a narrow kerf and controlled chip formation are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders that accept TAGN 3.2 style inserts. No additional compatible model numbers or system families were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Tang-Grip pocket and verify mechanical retention before resuming cutting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and seating guidelines; do not use damaged or worn pockets, as improper seating will affect dimensional accuracy and insert life.
