The ISCAR 6004515 is a solid carbide double-ended cutoff and parting insert in the Do-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the DGR insert style with a 1.4 mm (0.0550 inch) cutting width and is manufactured to ISO 13399 standards. The IC830 grade features a PVD coating applied over a tough carbide substrate, making it well-suited for cutting superalloys and other difficult-to-machine materials. The clamp-style holding method keeps the insert securely seated under high cutting forces. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in aerospace, medical, and high-performance manufacturing will find this insert a direct fit for demanding parting applications.
This insert is intended for parting and cutoff work where tight tolerances and clean surface finishes are required on superalloys and similar hard materials. The right-hand lead angle of 15 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle support controlled chip flow and reduced cutting pressure. With a maximum depth of cut of 15.0 mm (0.5906 inch) and an overall insert length of 15.4 mm (0.6063 inch), it fits standard Do-Grip insert pockets designed for the DGR 1400 seat size. The JS chipbreaker geometry promotes efficient chip breaking across a range of feed rates and material conditions.
Designed for use in Do-Grip series toolholders and insert pockets configured for the DGR 1400 seat size. Compatible with right-hand clamp-style grooving and parting systems. Primary workpiece material designations per ISO material code: M, P, and S (superalloys, stainless steel, and steel).
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque procedures. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before any insert change. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating of 15.0 mm to avoid insert fracture or toolholder damage.
