The ISCAR 6004514 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert in the Do-Grip series, designated DGR1500J8D with IC830 grade coating. It features a 1.5 mm (0.0590 inch) cutting width and is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied IC830 coating, making it well-suited for high-performance parting and grooving operations. The insert carries a J chipbreaker geometry and an 8-degree right-hand lead angle, with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.05 mm corner radius. It is a double-ended insert held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. Machinists and CNC operators working with superalloys and other demanding materials install this insert in compatible Do-Grip toolholding systems.
This insert is designed for parting and cutoff applications where tight dimensional control and reliable chip evacuation are critical. Its IC830 PVD-coated carbide construction is optimized for cutting superalloys, stainless steels, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The right-hand orientation and 8-degree lead angle suit standard right-hand parting setups on CNC lathes and turning centers. The maximum depth of cut reaches 18.00 mm (0.7087 inch), accommodating a broad range of workpiece diameters in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with ISCAR Do-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept DGR-style inserts with a 1500 seat size designation.
Installation of carbide parting inserts should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder seat is clean and free of debris before seating the insert to prevent microfracture from uneven clamping. Use the appropriate clamping hardware specified for the Do-Grip toolholder; do not overtighten the clamp screw beyond the toolholder manufacturer's fastener specification. Inspect the insert for chips or cracks before each use, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and should never be used if visibly damaged.
