The ISCAR 6004496 is a solid carbide double-end cutoff and parting insert from the Do-Grip series, designed for high-performance grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC830 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, making it well suited for cutting superalloys and other demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a 2.2mm (0.0866 inch) cutting width, a 6-degree right-hand lead angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.02mm (0.0008 inch) corner radius. It is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder and fits standard Do-Grip insert seats. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for parting and grooving applications in production and job-shop turning environments. The IC830 grade with TiAlN finish is optimized for ISO material groups M, P, and S, which include stainless steels, carbon steels, and superalloys. The JS chipbreaker geometry supports chip control across these material groups. Maximum depth of cut is 18.00mm (0.7087 inch), giving adequate clearance for most bar-stock parting applications on light to medium turning machines.
Designed for use with Do-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept the DGR 2200 insert seat size. Compatible with ISO material groups M (stainless steel), P (carbon and alloy steel), and S (superalloys) as designated by the primary workpiece material codes in the product specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct Do-Grip clamp and torx key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute hardware. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
