The ISCAR 6003695 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Tang-Grip series, it features a 2 mm (0.0787 inches) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight-in parting cuts across a wide range of workpiece materials. The IC808 grade is a PVD-coated submicron carbide, engineered for wear resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. A JS chipbreaker geometry promotes chip control during grooving and cutoff applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a single-end replaceable cutting edge secured by a clamp-style holder.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range spans steels, stainless steels, cast irons, hardened materials, and heat-resistant superalloys, making it a practical stock item for job shops running varied material types. It is used in Tang-Grip compatible toolholders in standard parting and grooving setups on both gang-tool and turret-style lathes. The JS chipbreaker profile is suited to moderate depth grooving and through-parting on bar stock or chucked workpieces.
Designed for use with Tang-Grip series clamp-style toolholders that accept TAG insert style cutting edges. Specific holder compatibility should be confirmed against the ISCAR Tang-Grip toolholder catalog using the TAG N2JS insert designation.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before replacing or indexing the insert, power down the machine and confirm the spindle is fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified for the Tang-Grip holder to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper edge location and clamping force.
