The ISCAR 6003656 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the PentaCut series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated grade IC908 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width measures 2.39 mm (0.094 inches) and the maximum depth of cut reaches 5 mm (0.197 inches). The PENTA insert style uses a screw-clamping holding method for repeatable, rigid seating in compatible toolholders. It is a right-hand, single-end insert intended for professional machinists and toolroom technicians.
This insert is suited for universal application across ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals, reflected in its ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Typical use cases include production grooving, undercut operations, and face grooving on medium to small-diameter workpieces. The F chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in moderate to light cutting conditions. This insert fits PentaCut series screw-lock toolholders sized for the 34F insert family and is packaged individually with a minimum order quantity of four units.
Designed for use with PentaCut series screw-lock toolholders accepting the 34F insert size. Compatible with multi-use tooling platforms supporting the PENTA insert style. Refer to the ISCAR PentaCut catalog under manufacturers catalog number PENTA 34F239-0.15-22R to confirm toolholder pairing.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with indexable insert tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate ISCAR screw-key torque tool to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten by hand or with non-specified drivers, as this can damage the insert pocket. Verify insert seating and alignment before returning the machine to operation.
