The ISCAR 6003537 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the PentaCut series, designed for external and face grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. It carries the PENTA 34N200C020 ISO code and is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating over a submicron carbide substrate in IC908 grade. The cutting width is 2.01 mm (0.0790 inches), the maximum depth of cut is 8.00 mm (0.3150 inches), and the corner radius is 0.20 mm (0.0080 inches). The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake geometry, and a C-style chip breaker. It is secured by a screw-clamp holding method and is rated for multi-use tooling setups.
This insert is suited for grooving, parting, and profiling applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. The IC908 grade with TiAlN PVD coating covers universal primary workpiece material classifications including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), hardened materials (H), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). It fits within the depth-of-cut range of 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm (approximately 0.3000 to 1.0000 inches), making it appropriate for both light finishing and moderate stock-removal grooving passes. This insert is installed by a machinist or tooling technician on a CNC lathe or turning center. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lockout before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder seat without over-torquing the insert. Inspect the insert seat and chip groove for debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and indexing.
