The ISCAR 6003383 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert in the PentaCut series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries ISCAR grade IC1008, a PVD-coated substrate featuring a TiAlN and TiN coating stack that delivers wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert has a 1.00 mm (0.0394 inch) cutting width, a 15-degree right-hand lead angle, a 12-degree relief angle, and a minimal corner radius of 0.05 mm. Screw-clamped retention keeps the insert securely seated during high-feed parting cuts. Chipbreaker style P is configured for controlled chip formation.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. The IC1008 grade and universal primary workpiece material designation make it compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and aluminum-group materials corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The narrow 1 mm cutting width minimizes material loss at the cutoff point, making it practical for high-value bar stock and close-tolerance parting operations on small-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use in PentaCut series screw-clamp toolholders that accept PENTA 24R100 style inserts. Suitable for turning centers and CNC lathes using right-hand insert orientation. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping screw specifications against ISCAR PentaCut system documentation before installation.
Installation of carbide parting inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct ISCAR clamping screw and driver to seat the insert without overtorquing the retention screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert, as debris in the pocket can cause micro-fracture of the carbide on first engagement.
