The ISCAR 6003285 is a double-ended solid carbide cutoff and parting insert from the Do-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating process for extended wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features a 2.00 mm cutting width (0.0787 inches), a right-hand lead angle of 6 degrees, and a ZS chipbreaker geometry. Overall length is 20.40 mm (0.8031 inches). Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. ISCAR classifies it as universal with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, general steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. The maximum depth of cut reaches 18.00 mm (0.7087 inches), making it applicable to moderate-diameter bar stock parting in both light production and high-volume turning cells. The DGR insert style seats into compatible Do-Grip toolholders designed for that insert geometry.
Designed for use with ISCAR Do-Grip series toolholders that accept the DGR insert style with a 2000 size code. Compatible workpiece material codes per ISCAR classification: H, K, M, P, and S. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 are listed for this insert.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the toolholder manufacturer-specified torx or hex key for the clamping screw; do not substitute improvised tools, as proper clamping force is critical to insert stability during parting operations. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cuts. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping prior to installation.
