The ISCAR 6003149 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for use in self-grip style toolholders on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC908 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating, delivering consistent edge performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The cutting width is 4.10 mm (0.1614 inches), with a 0-degree lead angle in a neutral orientation and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.40 mm (0.0157-inch) corner radius is ground into the insert geometry. The chipbreaker designation is B, suited for controlled chip formation during grooving and parting operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications on both ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The IC908 grade with PVD coating is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Typical applications include external grooving, face grooving, and parting-off operations on production turning equipment. The self-grip series holding method provides secure insert clamping without additional fasteners in compatible toolholders. It is suited for both medium-volume production runs and job-shop environments where a single insert grade is needed across varied material types.
Designed for use with ISCAR self-grip series toolholders that accept insert seat size 4 and the GFN insert style. Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct clamp torque driver or key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended in the ISCAR tooling catalog for the IC908 grade and the specific workpiece material being machined.
