The ISCAR 6003111 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the PENTA series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by style code PENTA24N147J000J and manufacturer grade IC908, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers strong resistance to heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting width is 1.47 mm (0.0579 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 2.50 mm (0.0984 inches). The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both left- and right-hand toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert as part of standard tooling changeouts.
This insert is used in turning operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. The IC908 grade with TiAlN finish is rated for universal primary workpiece material, with ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S — covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is well-suited for medium to high-speed grooving on both light and heavy production runs. The J chip breaker geometry helps control chip formation and evacuation during grooving. This insert meets ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed for use with PENTA series grooving toolholders that accept the 24N insert size. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO codes H, K, M, P, and S. Refer to the ISCAR PENTA system toolholder documentation to confirm insert-to-holder fitment before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key for the PENTA toolholder to secure the insert; do not use substitute tools that may damage the seating pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert.
