The ISCAR 6002884 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by insert style GFN4W and manufacturer grade IC328, this single-end insert features a 4.1 mm (0.1614 inch) cutting width and a PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate. The IC328 grade is optimized for cutting superalloys and a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A neutral lead angle and 7-degree relief angle contribute to controlled chip flow and reduced cutting forces during grooving and parting passes. This insert is part of the ISCAR Self-Grip series, which uses a clamping hold method for secure tool retention.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications on superalloys, steels, and other demanding workpiece materials in both production and job-shop turning environments. The W chipbreaker geometry and 0.24 mm (0.0094 inch) corner radius make it appropriate for moderate-feed passes where edge stability and chip control are critical. It fits Self-Grip toolholders with an insert seat size of 4. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders with insert seat size 4. Suitable for ISO material groups M, P, and S including superalloys, steels, and stainless steels. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and all motion locked out per facility safety procedures. Use the appropriate ISCAR clamping key or wrench for the Self-Grip toolholder to seat the insert securely before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the IC328 grade and workpiece material combination.
