The ISCAR 6002841 is a solid carbide milling insert in the GSFN 2.4J IC908 configuration, designed for high-performance grooving and parting operations on CNC milling platforms. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process over a submicron carbide substrate, giving it strong resistance to heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. The insert measures 0.0941 inches in inscribed circle diameter with a 3/32 inch width and a sharp cutting edge style. The positive rake geometry and single cutting edge make it well suited for precision slotting where clean chip evacuation and edge integrity are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is rated for use across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material grades P, M, K, S, and H. It seats using a self-grip holding method and is compatible with ISCAR SGSF series cutter bodies. The chip breaker style is J, which is optimized for controlled chip formation in the material groups listed. It carries both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards compliance, making it suitable for shops running standardized tooling management systems. Typical applications include slotting and narrow groove operations on production or job-shop CNC milling machines.
Compatible with ISCAR SGSF series cutter bodies. The ANSI code is GSFN 2.4J IC908 and the ISO code is GSFN 2.4J. This insert uses a self-grip holding method and is rated for inscribed circle sizes in the 0.0000 to 0.2500 inch range within the GSFN insert family.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all energy isolated before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert-seating tool specified by the cutter body manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping mechanism, as self-grip inserts rely on precise seating geometry. Inspect the pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
