The ISCAR 6002691 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the GFN 4.8W insert style with an IC354 PVD-coated grade, this single-end insert delivers a 4.8 mm (0.189 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and a 0-degree lead angle geometry. The W chipbreaker profile and 7-degree relief angle make it well suited for clean chip evacuation during deep grooving and parting cuts. Installation requires a compatible Self-Grip clamping toolholder. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications on stainless steel and general steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. It is a strong fit for production turning environments where consistent cut-off width and surface finish are critical. The PVD coating process enhances wear resistance and edge integrity across extended run cycles. The Self-Grip series design allows for positive mechanical clamping without fasteners, reducing setup time during insert changes on compatible toolholders.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept the GFN insert style. Verify toolholder seat dimensions and insert pocket specifications before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
This insert should be installed and changed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips or debris before installation, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure for the Self-Grip system.
