The ISCAR 6002659 is a single-end solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to ISCAR's Self-Grip series and features the GFN insert style with a 4.79 mm (0.1886 inch) cutting width and a neutral lead angle, making it suitable for straight-in cutoff passes without directional bias. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide in grade IC354, applied with a PVD coating process for wear resistance on demanding workpiece materials. A relief angle of 7 degrees and a corner radius of 0.28 mm (0.011 inch) contribute to controlled chip formation and edge stability during cutoff operations.
This insert is intended for use in metal cutting applications where precision parting is required. The IC354 grade with PVD coating is formulated for cutting stainless steel (ISO material code M) and carbon and alloy steel (ISO material code P), making it well suited to job shops, production turning environments, and contract machining operations. The Self-Grip clamping method relies on a blade-style holder that grips the insert mechanically without screws, allowing rapid indexing. This insert is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series blade-style parting and grooving holders that accept GFN 4.8 style inserts. Confirm holder designation and clamping groove geometry before ordering to ensure proper seating and secure clamping.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip blade holder and confirm secure mechanical engagement before initiating a cut. Follow the machine tool builder's guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and approach feedrates for cutoff operations.
