The ISCAR 6002631 is a solid carbide cutoff and parting insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the manufacturer grade IC354, a PVD-coated carbide grade optimized for cutting stainless steel and steel workpieces. The insert features a 0.2008 inch (5.10 mm) cutting width, a right-hand lead angle of 8 degrees, a relief angle of 7 degrees, and a corner radius of 0.0110 inch (0.28 mm). It belongs to the ISCAR Self-Grip series and uses a clamp-style holding method. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians install this insert as a single-end cutting tool on compatible Self-Grip toolholders.
This insert is suited for parting and cutoff work on steel and stainless steel in production turning environments. Its IC354 PVD coating provides wear resistance and edge stability when working with ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel). The Self-Grip series clamping method allows secure, repeatable insert indexing without additional hardware beyond the toolholder clamp. Typical applications include bar cutoff on Swiss-type and conventional CNC lathes, as well as grooving operations where a 5.10 mm slot width is required. The chipbreaker designation C is engineered to control chip formation in these materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept insert seat size 5 and are configured for right-hand GFR-style inserts. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before insert change. Seat the insert fully into the Self-Grip toolholder clamp and verify clamping force before resuming operation. Do not overtighten the clamping screw or attempt to use this insert in a non-compatible toolholder seat. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for proper torque and insert seating procedures.
