The ISCAR 6002445 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the ISCAR Self-Grip series, it features a GTR-2 insert style with a 2.2 mm cutting width and an 8-degree right-hand lead angle that directs cutting forces and chip flow away from the workpiece shoulder. The insert is manufactured from IC354 carbide grade with a PVD coating process, placing it in the C5/C6 material grade range for use on steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys. A 0.16 mm corner radius and 7-degree relief angle contribute to edge stability during deep cutoff passes. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this insert as a consumable replacement in compatible Self-Grip toolholders.
This insert is suited for cutoff and grooving applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. The right-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for standard right-to-left feed on a conventional lathe setup. The GTR-2 insert size code 2 and seat size 2 classification makes it a direct fit within the ISCAR Self-Grip clamping system, where the toolholder mechanically grips the insert without additional fasteners. Applications include bar stock parting, groove profiling, and shallow face grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where consistent width control is critical.

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician familiar with ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Insert seating relies on the Self-Grip clamping geometry — do not strike the insert with a hammer or hard tool to force seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for debris or wear before installing a new insert to ensure proper grip and repeatable cutting geometry.
