The ISCAR 6002423 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert in the Do-Grip series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the DGN 5003C geometry with an IC328 PVD-coated grade, making it well suited for cutting superalloys and other demanding workpiece materials. The insert features a 5 mm cutting width (0.1969 inches), a neutral lead angle, and a 0.30 mm corner radius (0.0118 inches). With a double-ended design, both ends are usable, extending service life per insert. This insert is typically installed and replaced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 6002423 is used in grooving and parting applications across a range of workpiece materials, with a primary focus on superalloys (ISO material codes M, P, and S). The Do-Grip clamping system secures the insert firmly during high-force parting cuts. It fits turning operations where consistent width, minimal deflection, and reliable chip control are required. The C chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in medium to heavy cuts. This insert suits both general production turning and precision component work where tight tolerances on groove width must be maintained.
Designed for use with Do-Grip series cutoff and grooving toolholders that accept DGN-style inserts with a 5003 size code. Compatible with workpiece materials designated under ISO codes M, P, and S, including superalloys, steels, and stainless steels. Material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6 are applicable per the manufacturer specification. Refer to the ISCAR Do-Grip toolholder selection guide to confirm pocket compatibility before ordering.
Insert replacement on Do-Grip toolholders should be performed with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamp key to release and reseat the insert, ensuring the pocket is clean and free of chips before installing. Verify the insert is fully seated in the pocket before resuming cutting. Follow your facility safety procedures and the machine manufacturer guidelines for tooling changes on CNC turning equipment.
