The ISCAR 6002420 is a double-ended solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert from the Do-Grip series, carrying the manufacturer grade IC328 with a PVD coating. Designed for grooving and parting operations, this insert seats via clamp-style holding and delivers a 4.00 mm (0.1575 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.30 mm corner radius and the J chipbreaker geometry help control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. The IC328 grade is optimized for cutting superalloys and a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials, making it a reliable choice for production turning environments where insert consistency matters.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production shops and job shops. Its double-ended design extends usable tool life per insert. The IC328 PVD-coated carbide grade is particularly suited to superalloy workpieces but is also rated for steel and stainless applications. Designed for use in Do-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept the DGN 4003 insert size. Compatible with workpiece material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6, and primary workpiece material codes M, P, and S per ISO 13399 classification. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secure before seating or changing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp key or torx wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque without over-stressing the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
