The ISCAR 6000825 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to GTN-2.4 geometry with ISCAR grade IC54, this insert delivers a 2.4 mm (0.0945 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. The corner radius measures 0.16 mm (0.0063 inch), supporting clean shoulder entry and consistent chip control. The bright, uncoated finish is suited to finishing cuts and materials where coated grades are not required. It is held in the toolholder via a clamp-style Self-Grip system. Machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for cut-off and grooving applications on turning equipment in both production shop and job shop environments. The GTN-2.4 geometry fits ISCAR Self-Grip style toolholders that accept a 2.4 insert seat size. Typical applications include parting off bar stock, grooving for O-ring seats, and recessing operations where a 2.4 mm width slot is required. The neutral hand designation means the insert works on both left- and right-hand approaches where the holder geometry allows. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units.

Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the toolholder removed or the turret indexed to a safe position. Use the correct ISCAR wrench or clamp key for the Self-Grip holder to achieve proper clamping force — do not overtighten with non-specified tools. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Follow shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when changing inserts on live tooling turrets.
