The ISCAR 6000387 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged under the Self-Grip series with insert style GFR, this single-ended insert delivers a 1.6 mm (0.0630 inches) cutting width and an 8-degree right-hand lead angle. The IC20 uncoated carbide grade provides a hard, wear-resistant cutting edge suited to a broad range of workpiece materials. A 7-degree relief angle and a 0.16 mm corner radius complete the geometry, giving machinists consistent chip control and precise groove dimensions on each pass.
This insert is intended for cut-off and deep grooving applications in production and job-shop environments. The GFR geometry with right-hand lead angle and Self-Grip holding method makes it appropriate for use on Swiss-type machines, gang-tooled lathes, and standard turning centers where secure, low-profile clamping is required. The universal primary workpiece material designation covers steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, aligning with ISO material groups H, K, M, N, and S.
Designed for use in ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept the GFR insert style. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, facilitating integration with CAM software and presetter systems.
Installation and replacement of carbide inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully stopped and in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the appropriate ISCAR Self-Grip toolholder and follow the manufacturer seating procedure to ensure the insert is fully engaged in the grip pocket before returning the machine to service. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before installation, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
