The ISCAR 6000286 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the GFN series, which uses a Self-Grip clamping method to secure the insert firmly in compatible toolholders. The insert carries the IC20 manufacturer grade and features a 3.03 mm (0.1193 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.20 mm corner radius helps control edge wear during cut-off cycles. This uncoated, single-end insert is intended for use by machinists and CNC turning professionals across a broad range of workpiece materials.
The 6000286 is suited for cut-off and parting applications in production and job-shop environments. Its universal workpiece material designation covers cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, and general steels, corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, and S. The Self-Grip series is commonly found in medium- to high-volume turning setups where repeatable insert seating and quick changeover are priorities. Material grades C2 and C3 indicate suitability for a wide range of machining conditions from finishing to general-purpose stock removal.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series toolholders that accept the GFN 3 insert style. Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO codes H, K, M, N, and S. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret or toolpost fully de-energized before inserting or removing any cutting insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely in the Self-Grip pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
