The ISCAR 6000234 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precise parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GFN 1.6 A geometry with a 1.6 mm cutting width (0.0630 inch) and belongs to ISCAR's Self-Grip clamping series. The IC-20 grade is an uncoated solid carbide rated for universal workpiece materials. The chipbreaker designation A and a neutral lead angle make this insert well-suited for straight radial parting cuts. A 0.16 mm (0.0063 inch) corner radius reduces edge chipping on a variety of workpiece materials. This insert is a single-end design held by a clamp-style toolholder and meets ISO 13399 standards for insert identification and documentation.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, and S. It is suited for production turning environments where consistent groove width and clean parting cuts are required. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard radial parting setups. Machine shops, production turning cells, and tool-and-die operations are typical installation environments for this insert type.
Designed for use with ISCAR Self-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept GFN-style inserts with a 1.6 mm seat. Compatible workpiece material codes are H, K, M, N, and S per the manufacturer's classification. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate ISCAR Self-Grip clamping toolholder and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for depth of cut and feed rate.
