The ISCAR 5999474 is a laydown threading insert engineered for cutting internal Stub Acme threads. Designated as a 16IR6STACME geometry, it carries a 6 threads-per-inch (TPI) pitch and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with an IC250 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating that improves wear resistance and tool life in demanding threading operations. Right-hand cutting orientation suits standard internal thread applications. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where precise thread form control is required.
This insert is suited for internal Stub Acme threading on ferrous workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, and steel, covering ISO material codes K, M, and P. It fits into ISCARTHREAD-series toolholders that accept the 16IR insert style and is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments where Stub Acme thread profiles are specified. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.143-inch thickness conform to ISO 13399 standards for interchangeable cutting tool data, making it straightforward to integrate into tool management systems.
Designed for use in ISCARTHREAD-series toolholders accepting the 16IR insert style. Compatible with workpiece materials in ISO groups K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), and P (steel). Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping force — do not overtighten or use improvised tools. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before inserting; contamination in the pocket seat affects thread form accuracy.
