The ISCAR 5903267 is a laydown threading insert designed for external ISO threading operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. Carrying the IC808 manufacturer grade, the insert is made from solid carbide with a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life across demanding cutting conditions. It profiles a 1.50 mm pitch ISO thread form with a right-hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.375 inches decimal) and the insert thickness is 0.143 inches. The 16ERM insert style with M chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in compatible laydown threading toolholders.
This insert is suited for external threading on turning centers and CNC lathes in both production and job-shop environments. The IC808 grade with PVD coating performs across universal workpiece material categories, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous, high-temperature alloys, and aluminum-family materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is appropriate for residential or commercial machine shops, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking applications where consistent ISO thread profiles at 1.50 mm pitch are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for laydown external threading toolholders that accept the 16ERM insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against the 16ERM seat specification in the toolholder documentation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct torx or clamp key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify thread pitch and hand orientation against the job setup sheet before resuming cutting.
