The ISCAR 5902416 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISCAR IC908 carbide grade, this insert is built for productive threading across a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. The insert style is 22IR, configured for right-hand cutting with an 8 threads-per-inch pitch. Solid carbide construction provides the rigidity and wear resistance required when threading challenging materials at production feed rates. It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and is sold individually.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications in precision machining environments, including job shops, production turning cells, and toolrooms. The 22IR insert style seats in compatible laydown threading toolholders. With a corner radius of 0.07 inches, this insert produces consistent thread form geometry on internal bores. It is appropriate for use across universal workpiece material classifications including H, K, M, N, P, and S material groups as defined under ISO 13399, making it a versatile choice when threading multiple material types across a single shift.
Designed for use with ISCARTHREAD-series laydown internal threading toolholders that accept the 22IR insert style. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against ISCAR toolholder documentation prior to ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver or clamping screw to secure the insert in the pocket — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before installation to ensure accurate seating and thread form consistency.
