The ISCAR 5700418 is a CNGA-style ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed, hard-material turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Isoturn series, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.03125-inch corner radius. The grade IN23 ceramic substrate is uncoated and engineered for demanding cuts in cast iron and hard materials where carbide grades reach their limits. At 12.9 mm (0.5079 inches) in length and 0.1874 inches thick, it fits standard CNGA toolholders using a clamp and pin holding method.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish turning of cast iron and hard workpiece materials in both production and job-shop environments. The Isoturn series is commonly used on general-purpose CNC turning centers where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The chip breaker designation T provides controlled chip formation during light to moderate depth-of-cut passes up to 0.40 mm (0.0157 inches) maximum depth of cut. Installation is typically performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians maintaining toolholder assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CNGA-style toolholders used in standard CNC turning and lathe applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp and pin holding mechanism, and ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Verify clamp torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before resuming cuts.
